Philadelphia union x Minnesota united
Minnesota United FC drew 1-1 with the Philadelphia Union in the first game of the 2022 MLS regular season at Subaru Park, thanks to a first-half goal by Robin Lod. Minnesota got out to a fast start and took the lead in the 23rd minute with Lod, who scored from inside the box after Franco Fragapane's low cross. Cory Burke's header would give the Union an equalizer 12 minutes later.
The second half was a back-and-forth battle, with both sides pressing on both ends of the field. They were unable to produce a winner in the end, with Union goalkeeper Andre Blake making a spectacular point-blank stop on Adrien Hunou in the 93rd minute.
Minnesota will take a point on the road, especially against a high-ranked opponent like Philadelphia. Kervin Arriaga's first game performance was a hint of things to come for the Loons as well. Although the Union would have preferred three points, there are some positives to be found, particularly in Jack Elliott's vision and ability to create from the back.
