San Jose earthquakes x Nashville sc
On Saturday afternoon at PayPal Park, Hany Mukhtar scored his first two goals of 2022, but Jeremy Ebobisse answered with his second brace in as many weeks to help the San Jose Earthquakes salvage a 2-2 draw with Nashville SC. Mukhtar scored in a first-half breakaway after a run that began on his own side of the midfield stripe, and then on a long throw-in that resulted in an open half-volley after the break. Nashville earned at least a point for the fifth time in their seventh of eight consecutive road games to begin the season before moving to GEODIS Park on May 1.
When Mukhtar gave his team the advantage, Ebobisse responded. His first goal came shortly after halftime on a free-kick that struck the top left corner, and his second came after Jan Gregus redirected Cristian Espinoza's corner. The Quakes drew for the third time in a row at home, but they are still without a win this season. Mukhtar's seventh multi-goal game in Major League Soccer came just a quarter of the way through his third season. Five of these came in 2021 when he scored 16 goals and added 12 assists in a season that saw him come second in the MLS MVP voting.
