Paul Arriola opened up the scoresheet in the 58th minute with a goal that rebounded off the goalkeeper to put FC Dallas up 1-0. Brandon Servania, who subbed into the game in the 64th minute, scored in the 68th minute to put Dallas up 2-0. Sebastián Driussi scored for Austin in the 72nd minute after Moussad Jitte had a breakaway in progress but was knocked down by two defenders. The equalizer came off of a cross initiated by Nick Lima and headed in by Danny Hoesen in the 85th minute.
