Philadelphia union x dc united
Seven goals by three different players. This match goes down in history for the Philadelphia Union as it was the largest victory for the team. It is also tied for the largest margin of victory in MLS history.
The first half saw the Union score five goals. Alejandro Bedoya and Julian Carranza had two goals each, while Mikkel Uhre had one. Alejandro started it off by receiving a nice ball from Jose Martinez for a goal in the 9th minute. Twelve minutes later, Julian would score his first and get his second three minutes later. Julian’s first goal was a bicycle kick assisted by Jack Elliot that was initially started off with a corner kick taken by Kai Wagner. DC United's defense continued to have trouble keeping up with the Union as Flach would later dribble the ball down the side of the 18 as Julian Carranza made a run from behind the defensive line to tap in another goal. Bedoya would add to the commanding lead. He headed it into the net from a free-kick from Kai Wagner. Mikkel Uhre would close out the scoring in the first half with a goal of his own to make it 5-0.
The Union picked up from where they left off in the first 45 minutes of play. They kept their offense rolling. Andre Blake made a few good saves, including one in the 50th minute when it looked like DC was going to get a goal and get back in the match, but Blake's reaction time proved to us why he is one of the best goalkeepers in MLS. Uhre scored his second goal in the 59th minute. Carranza's first attempt at a hat trick came in the 70th minute due to a PK caused by a handball in the box, but Romo would go on to save the PK. Carranza himself would however get his redemption two minutes later. Carranza would keep at it, trying to score once more, but he was gassed out and the whole Union team came away with a 7-0 resounding win over DC United.
