In a highly anticipated matchup Charlotte FC took on the Sounders at home The first goal of the game came from Ben Bender of Charlotte who scored off a rebound that hit the goal post first then he finished it off with a reflex reaction kick to the net. Bender had an opportunity to score his second goal in the 40th minute but Stefan Frei made a spectacular save to keep it out of the goal. In the 72nd minute, Jordan Morris scored a goal to even things up. But to put the icing on the cake Raúl Ruidíaz made it 2-1 in the 80th minute to give Seattle all three points.
