New England Revolution x CF Montreal
On Saturday night, in front of a season-high crowd of 35,455 at Gillette Stadium, the New England Revolution fell to CF Montreal, 1-0.
Forward Justin Rennicks made his 11th start of the season and his return to the starting lineup in New England's last home encounter of the season. In the 12th minute, Rennicks created the opening opportunity of the night by rolling a ball into the path of Matt Polster, whose low effort was stopped by Montreal goalkeeper Sebastian Breza. In the 21st minute, Carles Gil and Gustavo Bou created another chance, but this time Gil's shot went high and wide.
With Montreal on the counter in the 72nd minute, Alistair Johnson finished off a ball from Romell Quioto for the game's only goal. Djordje Petrovi, the goalkeeper for the Revolution, made a pair of saves, both in the second half. In the 89th minute, Vrioni got past the New England defense but his left-footed effort went high leaving the match 0-1 in Montreal’s favor and landing New England in 11th place.
