Philadelphia Union x Orlando City
Philadelphia looked to extend its lead in the Eastern Conference when Orlando City came to town fresh off their US Open Cup title victory.
This game started rather slowly. Despite having a goal disallowed for offsides, Philadelphia was still able to take the game's first lead when, in the 39th minute, Olivier Mbaizo attempted to take a shot, but the ball took a hard turn when it bounced off of Joao Moutinho, resulting in an own goal that flew over the goalkeeper. As the first half came to a close, Mikkel Uhre scored, giving the Union a 2-0 lead going into the break. Mikkel collected the ball from Gazdag for a fast-break goal while running down the left side of the field. The goal-scoring streak for Uhre now stands at three games.
The Philadelphia Union had a fantastic start to the second half. They had better game management and continued to build on their first-half momentum. The frustration level for the opposition side will rise when you combine that with a potent attack that has scored at least 5 goals in the last couple of games. Orlando became frustrated in the 53rd minute when Dániel Gazdag attempted to reach the ball that had been shot by Mbaizo but was fouled by the goalie Mason Stajduhar, resulting in a penalty kick. To make it 3-0 Union, Dániel Gazdag successfully executed the kick. He became the first player in Union history to score in five straight games with this one. As they persisted in attacking, the Union eventually scored their fourth goal of the contest when Bedoya headed a cross from Kai Wagner into the far corner of the goal. Andrés Perea scored after a throw-in from the middle of the box in the 75th minute to give Orlando their first goal and prevent a shutout. In the 87th minute, Jack Elliot scored the game's final goal, making the score 5-1 in favor of the Union after Kai Wagner's corner kick.
