Seattle Sounders x San Jose Earthquakes
On Sunday's Decision Day match at Seattle's Lumen Field, the Sounders and the San Jose Earthquakes tied 2-2. For the Sounders, Nicolás Lodeiro scored twice, while for the Earthquakes, Jeremy Ebobisse and Cade Cowell scored goals.
Lodeiro scored Seattle's first goal 24 seconds into the contest, which was also the quickest goal of the season. Just three minutes later, though, Ebobisse scored an equalizer off a rebound after a stop by Stefan Cleveland. In the 21st minute, the Sounders almost took the lead when a shot by Albert Rusnák rebounded off the near post.
Four minutes into the second half, Lodeiro increased his score by volleying a headed clearance from a Sounders corner kick with his right foot from the top of the box. For the sixth time in his Sounders career, Lodeiro finished with seven goals in a season. In the 75th minute, San Jose's substitute, Cade Cowell, scored an equalizer with a shot from beyond the penalty area. Unfortunately, Seattle's season ends with this game.
