Austin FC defeated Real Salt Lake 2-1 on the road at America First Field on Saturday night, thanks to goals from Jon Gallagher and Owen Wolff. Wolff scored his first professional MLS goal in the match, making him the youngest player in the league to do so this year. With less than nine minutes from the first kick, Gallagher scored the first goal for Austin. From the right wing, he unleashed a fantastic shot that smashed off the bottom of the crossbar and into the back of the net.

In the 22nd minute, Real Salt Lake equalized on a strike by Justen Glad. Later, in the 33rd minute, Austin regained the lead after Alex Ring made a great stop to prevent the home team from taking the lead. A few minutes after setting up Gallagher for the game's first goal, Wolff scored his first MLS goal with a low, precise shot from just outside the box.

In the second period, the host team made a concerted effort to find an answer. Austin had a few chances to score a third goal on the attack, but they were unnecessary because their defense held strong and they were able to see out the win.
