portland timbers x houston dynamo
The Portland Timbers concluded a busy week with a 2-2 draw against Houston Dynamo FC at Providence Park on Saturday night. Coming from behind twice, the Timbers secured a point thanks to goals from Felipe Mora and Nathan Fogaça. Mora's strike marked his team-leading eighth goal of the season, while Fogaça found the back of the net for the first time in 2024. Evander played a pivotal role, providing two assists, and Jonathan Rodríguez contributed with one, extending his streak to six straight matches with a goal contribution.
Saturday's draw capped a productive week for the Timbers, who amassed seven points from their three-game stretch, including wins against Sporting Kansas City and Austin FC. This unbeaten run marks the first time this season that Portland has finished a three-game week without a loss. With 32 goals scored so far, the Timbers have significantly improved their offensive output compared to the same point last season. Notably, Portland has now secured results in four of their last five home matches, scoring 18 goals at Providence Park this season.
Felipe Mora's impressive form has been a highlight, with his eight goals tying him for 10th most in MLS. His goal on Saturday also marked the Timbers' 400th goal at Providence Park, making Portland the second-fastest club in MLS history to reach this milestone. Jonathan Rodríguez and Evander have been instrumental in the team's offensive success, each contributing to multiple goals this season. Rodríguez's assist on Mora's goal continued his six-match streak of goal contributions, while Evander's two assists increased his tally to 15 goal contributions this season, highlighting the strong offensive connection between these key players.
