Seattle Sounders x Houston Dynamo
Seattle Sounders dominated possession and dictated much of the play, but a resilient Houston Dynamo defense held firm as the two teams battled to a scoreless draw at Lumen Field on March 22, 2025. Despite a flurry of chances, Seattle couldn’t find a way past Houston’s disciplined backline and solid goalkeeping, leaving both teams with a point in a hard-fought affair.
From the opening whistle, Seattle looked the more dangerous side, keeping the ball well and pressing forward with intent. With Albert Rusnák and Nicolás Lodeiro pulling the strings in midfield, the Sounders carved out multiple opportunities, particularly from set pieces and crosses into the box. However, Houston’s defense stood strong, with goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer making key stops to keep the home side off the scoreboard.
One of Seattle’s best chances came in the 35th minute when Jordan Morris broke free on the left wing and sent a low-driven shot toward goal, only for Maurer to react quickly and parry it away. Moments later, Raúl Ruidíaz found himself in space at the edge of the box, but his curling effort whistled just wide.
While Houston struggled to create many clear-cut chances, their defensive discipline was on full display. The visitors absorbed pressure throughout the match, limiting Seattle to low-percentage shots and winning crucial battles in midfield. Blake Gillingham, coming off the bench, added to the Dynamo’s defensive wall with a few late saves, frustrating Seattle’s attack.
