Seattle Sounders x Orlando City SC
On Saturday night at Lumen Field, the Seattle Sounders and the Orlando City SC battled to a scoreless draw. Within the first two minutes of the contest, the Sounders had already created two potentially damaging scoring opportunities.
Héber had the first good chance, but Pedro Gallese made a good stop after a give-and-go with Albert Rusnák that ended in a corner kick for the Rave Green. Then, in the second minute, Yeimar received a cross from Léo Ch on the left side of the box and sent it to Nicolás Lodeiro, whose shot from the top of the box struck the crossbar.
Five minutes later, César Arajo tried a one-timer from the right side of the box for Orlando City, but he missed wide to the left. In the 35th minute, Orlando almost took the lead, but veteran goalkeeper Stefan Frei made a diving save after an Ojeda corner kick was deflected off the head of Duncan McGuire.
The second half was much like the first: a tight contest between the two sides. Lodeiro would try his luck in the 50th minute with a volley from the right side of the box, but he could only hit the top of the crossbar. In the 76th minute, Facundo Torres had Orlando's best opportunity when he attempted a shot from the left side of the box after a rapid counterattack by Orlando. Stefan Frei blocked this attempt, but Mauricio Pereyra collected the loose ball and blasted it far into the sky.
Both the Sounders and Orlando City had several opportunities to score, but the game ended scoreless.
