OL Reign x gotham fc
On a scorching Saturday afternoon at Cheney Stadium, Gotham FC quadrupled their season goal total in one game by defeating OL Reign 3-0. Ifeoma Onumonu, Margaret Purce, and Domi Richardson scored for Gotham FC, which had only three goals in its first five NWSL games. Gotham FC now has 11 points after six games with their victory.
The visitors struck after 38 minutes. Purce launched a through ball that split the OL Reign's backline and found Onumonu, who took a touch to get around Sarah Bouhaddi and score to put her team up 1-0.
On the hour, a Purce goal extended Gotham FC's lead to 2-0. Purce overcame her opponent and found the upper right corner after Nahomi Kawasumi fired a pass over the defense. The New Jersey team kept their foot on the throttle and took advantage of another opportunity when Evelyne Viens dribbled up the field and found Richardson running down the left side. Richardson put the ball in the far wall of the net.
Gotham FC returns to Red Bull Arena on Friday to face Kansas City.
