Angel City FC won for the first time tonight at Cal State Fullerton, thanks to a penalty kick goal by Christen Press in the first half. The victory marked ACFC's final preseason game before their season opener at Banc of California Stadium on Friday. Until the 27th minute, when Press put a shot on frame, the game was a back-and-forth fight. Soon after, defender Megan Reid got another, and Rodrguez knocked down Angel City defender Vanessa Gilles in the area in the ensuing battle for the loose ball. In the 30th minute, the center official pointed to the spot, and Press stepped up to take the penalty kick. With Bixby diving left, she calmly fired to the right, putting the home team up 1–0.

The home team started the second half with a near miss: McCaskill fired a short free-kick to Press, who crossed the ball into the 18 from the right side of the penalty box. Charley managed to bring it down but was unable to turn and fire. Megan Reid, a defender, scooped up the ball and sent a strong right-footed shot narrowly over the bar. ACFC kept a clean sheet for the final 15 minutes plus stoppage time after a good defensive performance throughout the game.
