la galaxy x lafc
On Saturday evening, supporters were treated to another spectacular El Trafico match at Dignity Health Sports Park, with the hosts winning 2-1 in a match that came down to eight exciting minutes of stoppage time. Within the first 15 minutes, Chicharito put the Galaxy ahead, as Samuel Grandsir sent a precise cross that avoided an onrushing Maxime Crepeau en route to the striker's head. Then, in the 31st minute, Grandsir got his second assist of the game, going left-to-right on a pass that Sega Coulibaly punched in at the far post after Carlos Vela struck the post on one attempt and was deemed offside. In the 79th minute, LAFC scored their first goal; Vela failed to convert on an opportunity set up by a long throw-in, but Cristian Arango reclaimed the rebound to cut the lead in half, setting the stage for a frantic finish.
In the eighth minute of second-half stoppage time, after a chaotic melee in front of the goal, LAFC's Latif Blessing scored what appeared to be the equalizing goal with a finish on the doorstep after a barrage from the visitors. However, Mamadou's goal was overruled by Video Review due to an offside call. Fall throughout the build-up, allowing Galaxy fans to resume normal breathing and eliciting vehement protests from LAFC players following the final whistle. The Galaxy have yet to lose an El Trafico encounter in Carson, and their seven-match winning streak now stands at five victories and two draws. This is LAFC's first loss in six games under first-year head coach Steve Cherundolo, although they remain atop the Western Conference table despite the loss on the road. Even still, it was a gut-punch ending for the Black & Gold, who had hoped to rescue a road point against their arch-rivals.
