New england revolution x new york red bulls
On April 2nd, the 10-man New York Red Bulls defeated the New England Revolution 1-0 at Gillette Stadium, thanks to a 90th-minute own goal by Matt Polster. After Adam Buksa was sent off for his second bookable offense in second-half stoppage time, both sides ended with ten men. In the 73rd minute, RBNY's Frankie Amaya received his second yellow card.
The Red Bulls scored an improbable winner when an Ashley Fletcher cross into the area was deflected into the Revolution net by Andrew Farrell and then Polster. The score came just minutes after Carlos Coronel saved a header from Sebastian Lletget inside the six-yard box.
Don't look now, but the Red Bulls have nine points from their first three road games of the season, the first time in club history, and the first in MLS since 2012. Meanwhile, the disappointed Revs have won just once in 2022 and have lost three in a row, something they didn't do in their Supporters' Shield-winning season of 2021.
