New England revolution x fc dallas
The New England Revolution beat FC Dallas 1-0 at Gillette Stadium on Saturday thanks to Carles Gil's penalty kick in first-half stoppage time. The victory in the Revs' home opener set a new MLS record for head coach Bruce Arena, who now has 241 regular-season victories in his career. Gil finished clinically from the penalty spot, putting the ball into the side netting beyond diving FC Dallas goalkeeper Maarten Paes. Paxton Pomykal tripped Gil as the midfield duo raced down a loose ball inside the box, according to Video Review.
The Revs put on a professional show to start their home season with a 1-0 victory. There were opportunities to extend the lead and a late chance for FC Dallas to draw level, but New England was clearly the stronger team for the most part. Bruce Arena, the MLS coaching goat who set the record for all-time regular-season wins, reached even another milestone.
