Toronto FC x new york red bulls
The New York Red Bulls trounced Toronto FC 4-1 on Saturday afternoon, ruining the club's home-opening at BMO Field. Lewis Morgan scored a hat trick in the first half. Following up on last week's spectacular triumph in San Jose, the Red Bulls came out firing in Toronto, scoring four goals in the first half – including a Morgan hat trick and three assists from Patryk Klimala – to grab a commanding halftime lead. In the 35th minute, Jess Jiménez scored his first MLS goal for the Reds, but Morgan and captain Aaron Long swiftly answered for Gerhard Struber's side to make it 4-1.
In transition, Toronto had no answer for the Red Bulls, who have now won back-to-back road games to start the 2022 season and will be confident heading into their home opener against Minnesota United FC next weekend. Toronto, on the other hand, has lost eight straight games dating back to the conclusion of last season. Next week, TFC will strive to get back on track, albeit it won't be easy against the Columbus Crew on the road.
