Orlando City SC beat Charlotte FC 2-1 at Exploria Stadium on Saturday night, with Ruan scoring his third MLS goal early and adding a nice assist right before halftime. Orlando rebounded from a 3-0 home loss to the New York Red Bulls a week ago, when they failed to register a shot on target. Facundo Torres scored his second goal of the season. After Alan Franco went behind Orlando's backline and forced Rodrigo Schlegel into a late challenge, Christian Fuchs equalized for Charlotte by converting the club's first-ever penalty kick. However, Pedro Gallese's goal was hardly contested after that, and the visitors were still looking for their first away victory.

While Lions forward Silvester van der Water left late with an apparent left leg injury, Orlando center-back Robin Jansson collected his fifth yellow card of the season and will serve a one-match suspension in Week 10. Meanwhile, Charlotte's Kamil Jozwiak made his debut in a 22-minute stint off the bench. The Polish international joined manager Miguel Angel Ramirez's squad in March and was cleared to join team training in mid-April. He joins compatriot Karol Swiderski.
