Real salt lake x la galaxy
Shortly after halftime, Marcelo Silva headed in Pablo Ruiz's corner kick, and Real Salt Lake took advantage of a Video Review that wiped out an apparent late equalizer in a 1-0 victory over the LA Galaxy at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday afternoon. In second-half stoppage time, Galaxy's Dejan Joveljic seemed to have leveled the game. Instead, after examining VAR, referee Drew Fischer ruled Derrick Williams was offside and participated in the action, and he was called back. Zac MacMath made four stops in the second half to maintain his fourth clean sheet of the season and help RSL end a five-match losing streak. In the 65th minute, MacMath stopped Julian Araujo's one-on-one opportunity, and six minutes later, Joveljic's one-time effort was saved.
Salt Lake's recent troubles have had little effect on their home record. Since Mastroeni took over as manager midway through last season, RSL has won seven league games in a row at The RioT. That was enough to tie them for third place in the Western Conference standings on points, with the Galaxy holding the first tiebreaker of a goal difference. With wins later in Week 9, FC Dallas and Minnesota United might leapfrog the duo. After dominating possession and outshooting RSL 13-6, the Galaxy will be upset to leave Utah empty-handed.
