Philadelphia Union x Charlotte fc
The Philadelphia Union ended Charlotte FC's two-match winning streak with a 2-0 victory at Subaru Park on Saturday night. Julian Carranza and Daniel Gazdag scored the goals. The Union dominated the game from start to end, taking an early lead four minutes after kickoff thanks to a merciless counter-attack finished by Carranza. The sequence began with Kai Wagner's ball over the top, which found Sergio Santos in stride and allowed the Brazilian to pick out Carranza with a cross for a first-time finish.
On a goalie error by Charlotte's Kristijan Kahlina, who inadvertently hit a pass out of the back and into the path of Gazdag, Philly extended their lead immediately after the second-half kickoff. The Hungarian midfielder took advantage of the situation, putting a simple finish into an open net. The hosts never really lost control of the game after Carranza's opener got them off to a great start. The Union have gone unblemished through Week 5, winning four of their five games and looking like a Supporters' Shield contender. Charlotte, on the other hand, couldn't maintain their momentum after winning their first two games in Major League Soccer.
