The match was leveled 14 minutes later when Alejandro Pozuelo, the 2020 MLS MVP, scored his first goal of the season, capitalizing on a well-worked corner kick.

Toronto FC started the March international break on a positive note, winning for the first time this season in Week 4. The victory marked Toronto's first regular-season victory over D.C. United in almost five years, ending a nine-game losing streak that began in 2017. Meanwhile, D.C. United will be upset to come away with nothing after such a promising start to the game. Hernán Losada's team has now lost back-to-back games after starting the season with two wins, losing to Chicago Fire FC last week and Toronto FC this week.
