These two teams go head to head for the first time this season. This game got off to a great start for Portland in terms of offensive pressure. Sofia Smith had a great assist opportunity in the 6th minute as she found a way to pass the ball to Christine Sinclair as she was running up for the goal, but the Angels City goalkeeper made a last-second stop with her leg. Portland had a big opportunity to go up 1-0 in the 11th minute when a ball was about to pass through for a goal, but Forward Tyler Lussi came away with a big save in the last second to knock it out of bounds. Portland got on the board in the 15th minute with a goal off of a beautiful cross from Sofia Smith to Kelli Hubly. Three minutes later, Angel City made a costly mistake that led to an interception and a goal from Christine Sinclair. Sofia Smith, throughout the game, had multiple chances to score, but no good on any of them. Sinclair scored her second goal of the night in the 68th minute to put Portland up 3-0.
