Toronto fc x new england revolution

New England hung on for a draw despite Toronto dominating possession and scoring opportunities.

Toronto's beginnings were swift. They kept trying to score by taking many shots. It wasn't until the 29th minute that Toronto was granted a penalty kick, which resulted in a go-ahead goal. Christian Makoun executed a risky sliding tackle on Ayo Akinola within the New England penalty area, leading to a penalty. Taking the penalty kick, Federico Bernardeschi scored a goal. Thomas McNamara scored for the Revolution in the 37th minute to make it 1-1. He attempted three times to score since Alex Bono lost possession of the ball after having his shot stopped twice.

At the 48-minute mark, New England seized the lead when a sprinting Justin Rennicks finished off a through pass from Carles Gil in the bottom left corner. As the game progressed, Toronto maintained the pressure and had various opportunities to score, including several corner kicks. They tried several different strategies, but New England's stout defense and Petrovic's incredible saves prevented any of them from succeeding. Ex-TFC player Omar González even made one of the stops. Toronto's equalizer, scored by Domenico Criscito in the 75th minute, was his first goal of the game. After a botched effort in a corner, he took the shot. As Michael Bradley volleyed the ball, Domenico just booted it out of the air and into the net. After the full 90, the match would end in a tie with both clubs taking a point home.
