AC Milan x Tokyo Verdy Belez
In the second annual Women's Cup, played in Kentucky, AC Milan faced off against Tokyo Verdy Belez.
AC Milan's Lindsey Thomas took the opening shot on goal. The shot was sadly missed by a wide margin. Tokyo would react with a shot of its own, but AC Milan's goalkeeper would easily stop it. In the 29th minute, AC Milan took the lead when Martina Piemonte, coming from the middle, received a pass from Valentina Bergamaschi on the left and scored.
When Tokyo's goalie made a crucial mistake in the 53rd minute, the score might have gone against them by two goals. Instead of clearing it, she ended up giving the ball to Thomas, who took advantage of the situation and tried to score, but her shot missed to the right. At the 65-minute mark, Kosovare Asllani doubled the lead with a goal. Thomas assisted her in scoring. After 80 minutes, Asslani scored again. This time, Asllani scored from a set piece that was initiated by Sara Thrige Andersen. The ball was handed from Asllani to Silvia Rubio Avila, who returned the favor and scored to make it 3-0. In the 81st minute, a free kick goal put Tokyo on the board to end the match 3-1.
