Real Salt Lake x LA Galaxy
The visiting LA Galaxy defeated Real Salt Lake 3-2 in a match played at America First Field. Danny Musovski and Pablo Ruiz scored for RSL in the second half, but the team still lost by a 2-0 margin against the away team.
After a handball in the area in the last minute of regulation time, the LA Galaxy were granted a penalty kick, which Gaston Brugman converted to give his team a 1-0 lead going into halftime. Musovski scored the equalizer for Real Salt Lake in the 51st minute by heading in a corner from Savarino.
RSL midfielder Braian Ojeda came within inches of giving his team the lead in the 62nd minute when he smashed a shot toward the right post, but the keeper pushed it out with the tips of his fingers. In the 67th minute, the Claret and Cobalt seized the lead when Ruiz scored his third goal of the year with a stunning left-footed curling strike after Savarino was brought down outside the area.
But the Galaxy quickly responded, and five minutes later they tied the game at 2-2 when Memo Rodriguez snuck a shot inside the far post. Two more minutes passed until Tyler Boyd scored the game-winning goal for the Galaxy, leaving RSL with a mountain to climb in the final 15 minutes. Real Salt Lake, despite their best efforts, lost 3-2 at home despite being the better team and possessing many more attempts on goal to close out the match.
