la galaxy x vancouver whitecaps
The Vancouver Whitecaps drew 1-1 with the LA Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park on Sunday night after Ranko Veselinovic netted a second-half equalizer. With an opening just before the half-hour mark, Kevin Cabral placed the Galaxy in front, but Greg Vanney's team couldn't hold on to the three-point lead courtesy to Veselinovic's 50th-minute set-piece finish.
After having the better early opportunities, the Galaxy broke through in the 32nd minute thanks to Cabral's goal. The French winger got between Vancouver's center-backs and took a pass from Efrain Alvarez before scoring his second goal of the season.
The Whitecaps clawed their way back into the game, with Veselinovic equalizing five minutes after the second-half restart. The Serbian center back leaped to meet a Déiber Caicedo corner kick, flicking in a goal.
In the second half, the Galaxy had many chances to score a game-winning goal, but none of them materialized. Rayan Raveloson got one in the 69th minute, but Maxime Crepeau saved his effort from the top of the box. Two minutes later, Samuel Grandsir had another open opportunity set up by a headed feed from Sacha Kljestan, but his laser shot was blocked.
