Philadelphia union x Montreal impact

The Philadelphia Union won a 1-1 draw against CF Montréal at Subaru Park on Saturday night, thanks to a late Quinn Sullivan equalizer. The 17-year-old midfielder's equalizer was the Union's lone chance on goal, rescuing a point for the Supporters' Shield victors. As the Eastern Conference playoff competition heats up, it also wiped out a first-half stoppage-time goal by Montréal midfielder Djordje Mihalovic.

Joaquin Torres cut back to extricate himself from his defender on the right-wing before delivering a cross into the box, which set up Mihalovic's opening. Mihalovic slipped by Union center back Jakob Glesnes with an outstretched leg, infuriating the visitors as they returned to their dressing rooms.

In the 87th minute, Philadelphia got their first chance on goal, and it was all it needed to tie the game. Sullivan scored his second goal in MLS from the semi-circle to give his team a chance to win the game. Sebastian Breza of Montréal was beaten by his strong shot through the packed box, resulting in a point split at the Delaware River.

In a game when they struggled to find the target, the Union found a point. Philadelphia's youth has once again proven their worth. Quinn Sullivan, who came off the bench, had an impact and forced a tie. CF Montréal thought they'd pulled off an upset away from home, but they let the advantage slip away. Despite the loss, Wilfried Nancy's team is still in the hunt for a playoff berth.
