In a meeting of 2020 silverware winners on Saturday night, Jamiro Monteiro struck in the 24th minute and the Philadelphia Union held on for a 1-0 victory over the Columbus Crew.Andre Blake just needed two saves to keep his sixth clean sheet of the season, but one of them was a late 1-on-1 save from close range against Marlon Hairston.

With the win, the defending Supporters Shield winner Union drew level on points with Orlando in second place in the Eastern Conference and extended their unbeaten streak to seven games. Philadelphia also won for the first time in five games against the defending MLS Cup champion Crew, snapping their three-match winning streak.

This wasn't the most visually striking of Philadelphia's five victories this season, but it was most certainly the most crucial in terms of confidence. Both of these teams' league meetings in 2020 were won by Columbus. In 21 games against the rest of their schedule, Philadelphia has only lost twice.
