Alexander Ring scored the first goal in the 24th minute to put Austin FC up 1-0. Real Salt Lake kept plugging away with scoring chances throughout the first half but goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell made some miraculous saves, one of which he just barely reached the ball with his fingertips to peg it away. Within 2 minutes in the second half, Austin FC was down a man with Midfielder Daniel Pereira being sent off with a straight red. Real Salt Lake finally got a break with a goal from midfielder Maikel Chang in the 55th minute. Later on, with minutes left in regulation, Real Salt Lake scored another goal to go ahead by defender Andrew Brody. Real Salt Lake almost came away with only 1 point instead of three but with the reaction time of goalkeeper Zac Macmath and pure luck, RSL came away with all three points.
