Real Salt Lake x Colorado Rapids
Real Salt Lake faced a disappointing home loss against Rocky Mountain Cup rivals Colorado, surrendering a 1-0 lead to fall 2-1. Despite a promising start and an early goal from Emeka Eneli, RSL couldn't maintain their advantage, ultimately conceding two goals to the Rapids. The loss marked Colorado's first win on Utah soil since 2020 and only their fifth in 29 MLS visits to the Beehive State since RSL's inception in 2005.
Following the defeat, RSL will have an early-season bye week before resuming their MLS campaign against Vancouver Whitecaps on March 23 and hosting St. Louis CITY SC on March 30. Despite the setback, RSL remains focused on improving their performance and capitalizing on upcoming opportunities.
Emeka Eneli opened the scoring for RSL in the 21st minute, converting a well-executed play involving Chicho Arango and Andrés Gómez. However, Colorado responded with a penalty kick from Rafael Navarro in the 45th minute and a goal from Cole Bassett in the 70th minute, securing the win.
Despite the loss, RSL showed promising performances from players like Emeka Eneli, Noel Caliskan, and goalkeeper Gavin Beavers. With improvements needed in various areas, RSL remains determined to bounce back stronger in future matches and continue their pursuit of success in the MLS.
