fc dallas x sporting kansas city
With a 2-0 win over FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium on Saturday, Sporting Kansas City reclaimed first place in the Western Conference. Alan Pulido and Daniel Salloi scored the goals. SKC now has a record of 11W-4L-4D and 37 points, moving them back ahead of the LA Galaxy, who had temporarily taken over the top place thanks to a win against Minnesota United FC earlier in the day.
Pulido's seventh goal of the season gave the visitors the lead after just 12 minutes. Despite having two players close to him as he sprinted onto a through pass from Gadi Kinda down the left side, the outstanding Mexico international managed to slide home the goal from a difficult angle to the far post.
Szabolcs Schön's first effort was saved by SKC goalkeeper Tim Melia, and FC Dallas almost equalized in the 53rd minute with a shot from Ricardo Pepi, who blasted a rebound off the post after an initial attempt from Szabolcs Schön was stopped by SKC goalkeeper Tim Melia. Six minutes later, the hosts had another great opportunity. Paxton Pomykal was the spark, rounding Melia and handing the ball over to Schön for a rocket shot that rung the crossbar and almost missed going in on the downward deflection.
On 63 minutes, Salloi increased SKC's advantage, extending his season-long scoring spree with his 11th goal of 2021. With a precise strike from inside the box into the top corner, the Hungarian attacker left FC Dallas goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer no chance. Soon after Salloi's score, FC Dallas was denied by the post again, with Jader Obrian's first-time effort from the right side clanging against the woodwork, allowing Sporting to keep the clean sheet.
